About the Artist

Cari Johnston was born and raised in Alberta, where she completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Alberta majoring in fine arts.  Upon graduating, she taught Junior and Senior High art for 5 years, when she left her job and started her new adventure; becoming a mother to her second child, and moving across Canada to where she currently resides, Port Elgin, Ontario.

Cari’s artwork reflects all aspects of her life whether it be motherhood, nature, animals or any of her passions and interests. Her recent series of animals are painted in watercolours in a bright and creative style brought to life with movement, personality and depict the beauty of nature.

Most of her work has been completed in acrylic paint and charcoal. Just recently in 2020, Cari started working with watercolours when the pandemic hit and she made the decision to stay home and raise her kids. Cari continues to be extremely prolific at her in-home studio, creating several bodies of self-motivated artwork, custom commissioned pieces, prints, & working with designers such as OschaSlings. What began as a hobby, quickly turned into a passion and made the decision to become a full time artist.
